The Library was started in the year 1988 with about 600 books. During the month of June 2015 the Library was shifted to a separate building with three storage building named Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Central Library. The library system in the college includes a Central Library and Departmental Libraries. Our college library is well equipped with latest edition of books, Periodicals, Back Volumes etc. The Books are according to the Dewey Decimal Classification. Open Access System is followed to help the readers in locating books and making search easier. The library transactions are carried out by Barcode Technology. It has the facility of Web OPAC – Online Services


To offer all constituents of the college community timely and efficient information services in order to generate leaders of society who are well informed and competent to process information with modern technological assistance.

  • Library Collections

    The college management and members of staff of the library committee play a vital role in making the collection of various books for the library. Library collection includes books, periodicals and electronic resources. Selection of books and acqusition are based on the syllabi prescribed for various courses conducted at the college. Textbook collections, reference collections and books on general knowledge and current affairs form the important sources of our college library

    The Central Library has a rich collection of 26,407 volumes of books in 20041 titles on various discipline covering all major fields of Arts and Science.

    Online Services


    To serve the right user at right time and to save the time of the user, an improvised system is adopted in the library with the application of ICT. Software for Autolib has been installed on September 2011



    • E-Library has 65 system and housed in a centrally Air – conditioned hall, which is adequately furnished.

    Library Users Statistics

      The Central Library follows ‘Open Access’ system. Hence there is no restriction in entering the sections of the library. The average users are 500-600 per day choice of Reading Materials statistical Report for Library Utilization

    Library Advisory Committee    

    The functions of the Committee are as follows:

  • Review and approve recommendations made by HODs for purchase of books and journals
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of library resources and facilities to the Principal
  • Oversee maintenance of library resources and premises
  • Encourage and motivate students to use resources optimally
  • Monitor library – budget allocation to departments; and to
  • Purchase of equipment (racks, tables, chairs, scanner, printer, computer, etc.)

     Library Rules

    • Open access system is followed.
    • Silence should be strictly observed in the library.
    • Bags/belongings are not allowed inside the library
    •  On entering the library, only paper and pen can be taken in for reference work. The ID card and brown cover or newspaper shall be taken in when books have to be borrowed
    • Reference books, magazines and journals will be issued for overnight only.
    • The books are to be left on the reading table and need not be replaced in the shelves after reading or reference.
    • All books and journals must be returned on or before the due date.
    • Library books are to be used with utmost care and to be returned without any damage.
    • Students should not write or draw anything on the books, periodicals and newspapers.
    • The college library runs a book bank for the benefit of the poor students.
    • Alumnae students, mothers of the Pearl Montessori School students and teachers of the local schools, community college staff and Housewives of kilakarai can make use of the college library after the college working hours.
    • The library accepts donations of manuscripts, books and journals etc., which are found useful to the students
    • Usage of mobile phones is not permitted inside the library.
    • Students & Staff must produce the Identity Cards while borrowing the books
    • All books must be returned to the library before the end of the semester
    • Members must replace the book if lost with latest edition along with overdue charges

      Library Timings:

     The library will remain open on all days, except Sundays.

      • Monday to Friday – 7.45 a.m. to 9.15 p.m.
      • Saturday – 7.45 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
      • Examination days – 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.
