International Level

  • Organized an International Conference on English Literature in collaboration with English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI – Literature SIG, Chennai) on “English Literary Studies: Current Trends and Concurrent Challenges” from 21.09.12 to 23.09.12

National Level

  • Organized a UGC sponsored One Day National Seminar on “Human Rights Education and Human Rights Literature” on 21.12.13. The resource persons were Dr. S. Murali, Professor and Head, Department of English, Pondicherry University, Puducherry, Dr. V.T. Usha, Centre Head, Centre for Women’s Studies, Pondicherry University, Puducherry and Dr. C. A. Lal, Associate Professor of English, School of Distance Education, University of Kerala, Trivandrum, Kerala.

State Level

  • A lecture on Documentary Preparation was organized for the II MA students on 18.06.2013. Mr. Jayapriyan, CEO, Adjoin, Chennai was the resource person.
  • Organized a practical session on Camera Techniques on 27.06.2013. Mr. Mahesh, Photographer, Vijenth Studio was the resource person.
  • Our college was identified by ELTAI as the Chapter of Ramanathapuram District. The chapter was inaugurated on 08.10.13. As a celebration of this inauguration, the department organized a One Day Refresher Course on Skill Based Teaching of English for schools and college teachers of Ramanathapuram District. Dr. P.N. Ramani, ELT Consultant, Formerly of Pondicherry University and Loyola College, Chennai and Dr. A Joycelin Sharmila, Associate Professor & H.O.D of English, Annammal College of Education, Thoothukudi were the resource persons. Mrs. Sivakama Sundari, Chief Educational Officer, Ramanathapuram and Mr. Rajagopalan, Patron, ELTAI inaugurated the Chapter and Refresher Course. 92 teachers from schools and colleges of Ramanathapuram District participated.
  • “Training the Trainers’ Workshop” was organized by the ELTAI Ramanathapuram [TBAKC] Chapter for the faculty members of English department on 02.02.14 & 03.02.14.
  • A three- day Training Programme for Government School Teachers on “Skill Based Teaching of English” was organized by the Education Department of the Government of Tamilnadu in association with Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women and English Language Teachers Association of India (ELTAI) Ramanathapuram (TBAKC) Chapter from 04.02.14 to 15.02.14.
  • A one day Orientation programme on the topic, “Volunteering” was conducted exclusively for the CSS students residing in hostel on 18.10.15. Children from Al-Mumin Children Home, Sakkaraikottai, blue- collared workers’ children and students of Nadar Middle Government School were also invited. Ms. S. Zahira Banu, Assistant Professor of English, Sri Meenakshi College, Madurai was the resource person.
  • Department of English, Ramanathapuram TBAKC Chapter of English Language Teachers’ Association of India [ELTAI] organized LangEx (Language Expert) 2015-16, an Intracollegiate Competition to test the four language skills on 29.01.16.
  • A Training Programme was arranged for the II MA students regarding documentary preparation and handling camera from 13.07.16 to 16.07.16. Mr. M. Kavinilavan, Final Year, Films and Electronic Media Studies (FEMS), Madurai Kamaraj University was the resource person.
  • The Ramanathapuram [TBAKC] Chapter of ELTAI & Department of English organized LangEx 2016-17 (Language Expert) competition for the undergraduate students of our college on 26.09.16. Eighty three students participated in the competition. All the four skills (Listening, speaking, reading and writing) were tested in this competition. Mr. J. Manoharan Thomas Office Superintendent & Ms. C. Rosy, Assistant Professor of English, addressed the creative writers of the college on “Source of Writing” and “Means of Writing” on 30.09.16.
  • A one- day state level language skills testing, Shakespeare Lives 2017 was organized for school and college students (VIII & IX Std and UG students) on 05.01.17 and 06.01.17 respectively. All the four skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) were tested. Eight schools and seven colleges participated with a total number of one hundred and twenty students. Dr S Beulah, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Sri Meenakshi Govt. College for Women, Madurai acted as the chief guest and addressed the gathering on the topic, “Personality Development and Communication Skills”.
  • A two day workshop on “Photography and Camera Techniques” was organized for I MA English students to enhance their project work, Magazine Production on 06.01.17 and 07.01.17. Mr. M. Kavinilavan, Final Year, Films and Electronic Media Studies (FEMS), Madurai Kamaraj University was the resource person.
  • In commemoration of the ‘National Science Day’, the Department of English, the Department of Microbiology and the Eco Club in collaboration with The Hard Rain Project U.K. organized THE WHOLE EARTH? Exhibition on 24.02.17. A total of one thousand, five hundred and forty four students from various schools and colleges participated in the exhibition. As a part of this exhibition, ‘A Single Page Will Change’, a Write up Contest was conducted in which students had to select a polluted area in their neighbourhood, take a photograph and send it with a write up on its cause, plan and action. Nearly, 150 students participated in the contest.
  • To commemorate World Poetry Day the Department of English organized Poetry Contest on “Therapeutic Poetry” for the Campus Creative Writers and the ELTAI members of our college on 21.03.17.
