Modern medical standards are difficult to imagine without antibiotics and antimicrobials. In some treatment regimens, Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole may sometimes be administered together. Despite the fact that in fact these are different drugs, their combination enhances each other’s action and provides a quick expected therapeutic effect. So in what cases is it recommended to take Metronidazole simultaneously with Ciprofloxacin?
Metronidazole is a synthetic antibacterial drug that has a combined antibacterial and antiprotozoal effect. Usually it is used as an auxiliary for antibiotic therapy.
If you compare drugs, it is easy to find out that their application has the same effect on anaerobic and aerobic microorganisms, and therefore are widely used in the treatment of many diseases.
At the same time, metronidazole and ciprofloxacin can be prescribed in order to obtain a quick therapeutic effect when the organism is infected with simple microorganisms. These drugs are effective in the treatment of mixed abdominal processes.
To say that Metronidazole or Ciprofloxacin is better is rather difficult. Metronidazole has a time-dependent antimicrobial effect. It is used when it is necessary to maintain the concentration of the drug for a relatively long time in relatively low limits and for this purpose it is prescribed in a dosage of 3 times a day for 250 mg.
Ciprofloxacin is one of the types of drugs that have a concentration-dependent antibacterial effect. It is prescribed when it is important to achieve a relatively high concentration of the drug in the blood serum and used in combination with rifampicin, clindamycin or simultaneously with other antibacterial drugs.
The compatibility of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole in certain treatment regimens determines the process of elimination of a wide range of possible pathogens. Depending on the severity of the clinical manifestations of the disease, oral or parenteral treatment may be prescribed.
In the easy course of the pathological process, tablet forms of the drug are usually used, and for more severe clinical manifestations, intravenous administration of the drug is prescribed.
Simultaneous reception together Ciprofloxacin with Metronidazole is usually recommended to increase the activity of anaerobic flora. Especially effective is a similar treatment regimen for inflammatory processes in pelvic organs and gynecological diseases.
