Service to mankind is service to God

The Rotaract Club of Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College For Women (TBAKC), Kilakarai was born on 26 August 1997 (the Golden Jubilee year of India’s Independence) as the very first girl child of the parent Rotary Club of Ramnad. The Charter president was Rtr Ishrath Faridha, III B Com and her twenty office bearers took charge. Soon the membership rose to fifty. The President of the current year 2001-02 is Rtr Sathyakala, III B Com along with the Secretary Rtr Marjia, I M A English and Communication. The staff adviser Miss Rajab Fathima, Lecturer, Department of Commerce, worked well for the success of the Rotaract Club, until her successor Mrs Jasmine Jeyaraj, Lecturer, Department of Commerce took charge, to assist the Rotaractors

 

OBJECTIVES

  • To gain a broader vision through practical exposure to life
  • To develop a better understanding of the world
  • To cultivate a deeper sympathy for their fellow human beings
  • To inculcate leadership qualities among the students

 

AWARDS

The Best New Club Award was given to our Rotaract Club during the year 1997-98 under the presidentship of Rtr Ishrath Faridha in the Rotary International District 3210

The Best Women’s Club Award was given to our Rotaract Club during the year 1998-99 in the Rotaract International District 3210, under the Presidentship of Rtr A A C Habeeba

 

BULLETIN

The Rotaract Club came out with a maiden Bulletin The Art under the editorship of Rtr Ishrath Faridha and Rtr Mubeen Taj during the year 1998-99

 

IMMUNIZATION PROGRAMMES

With the assistance of the Lions club of Kilakarai and the Rotary club of Ramnad, the Rotaract Club organized a programme on immunization against Rubella free camp on 14 December 1997. Rtn Dr Madhuram Arvindaraj gave an inspiring and informative talk on German measles and its effects with the use of slide projector. About hundred students were immunized

Hepatitis-B vaccination was administered to the students of the Pearl Montessori School at concessional rates during the year 1998 -1999

Hepatitis-B vaccination was administered free of cost to 10 students of Rahmaniya School, Mohamadiapuram, Ramnad District on 18 February 2002

 

PARTICIPATION IN CONFERENCES

The Rotaractors participated in Jhumka City National Competition conducted by Rotaract International District 3110 on Vande Matharam (through a Questionnaire) on 15 December 1997. Our students participated in this competition successfully and received certificates from Blue Hills Pen Friends Club, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh (UP)

The Rotaractors attended the 27th District conference Bay Watch at Mandapam, Rameswaram on 14 and 15 February 1998. Rtr Shameema joined the Music Troop and Rtr Marjiya was presented the Miss Bay Watch memento on the occasion

 

PARTICIPATION IN MEETING

The Rotaract President, A A C Habeeba and Rtr Rafeeka participated in General Body Meeting of the United Economic Forum, at Kodaikanal during the 4th week of September 1997, and won prizes for the debate on the topic Women’s Higher Education – a must or not?

 

BLOOD IDENTIFICATION CAMP

A camp was organised for the students of Government Arts College for Women, Ramnad on 12 March 1998 to identify their blood groups

 

BLOOD DONATION

Rtr President Ishrath Faridha, Rtr Shameema, Rtr Irshath Begum donated blood voluntarily and and other Rotaractors expressed their willingness to donate blood in future also as and when occasion arose

 

WORLD ROTARACT DAY

The Rotaracts celebrated the World Rotaract Week along with Rotaract club of Ramnad on 12 March 1998

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON POLLUTION CONTROL

The Rotaractors gave a programme on Pollution-Free Environment to the Kilakarai public conducted by the Kilakarai Welfare Association on 23 January 1999

The Rotaractors conducted a Rally highlighting the hazards of the use of Polythene products on 5 October 2001

 

WORLD LITERACY DAY

The Rotaractors conducted a programme on World Literacy Day at Mohamadiapuram, Ramnad on 8 September 2000. The villagers participated actively and the Rotaractors highlighted the value of education through dramas, speeches and songs. Mrs Nabeesa Habibullah, Head, Department of Tamil, Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women (TBAKC), Kilakarai gave an inspiring speech on Importance of Education

 

VISIT TO ASHRAM

The Rotaractors met the mentally retarded people at the Aronodayam Ashram at Parthibanoor, Ramnad District where we distributed clothes, sweets and conducted some games and gave away some prizes

 

YOUTH PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE

Youth Parliament Committee was formed on 18 February 2002 with 20 office bearers in association with the Youth Welfare Department. The main aim of this committee is to give training to students as mock-parliamentarians

 

ROTA FRIENDS

When members of the Rotaract Club want to expand their horizons of friendship and Rotary activities, they turn to the internet where they make Rota friends, conduct Rota Polls and engage in Rota Chats with Rotaractors round the world
