MISSION

  • To uplift the womenfolk of the locality from their ignorance and to create awareness about the plenteous opportunities prevailing around them.
  • To help the BPL women to become empowered.
  • To form Self Help Groups (SHGs)
  • To sensitize the SHGs about the Government Schemes and programmes sanctioned for their welfare.
  • To develop the Entrepreneurial and soft skills.

History of the NGO

Seethakathi NGO has been functioning under TBAK College for Women, since 2002 under Seethakathi Trust. The Founder of the trust is Alhaj Dr B S Abdur Rahman. Mrs Qurrath Jameela and Mrs Mariam Habeeb are acting as Chair Person of the NGO.

Seethakathi NGO project implementation unit is under the control of the Project Officer Dr S Sumayaa, Principal of TBAK College for Women and Assistant Project Officer / Secretary Janab Sheik Dawood Khan, Deputy General Manager of Seethakathi Trust and All India Islamic Foundation, Madurai.

NGO is taking care of the people (living below poverty line) of Kadaladi, Thiruppulani Blocks of Ramanathapuram District. In Co-ordination with its sister concern TBAK College for Women, YZMC and other Government agencies, the NGO is empowering the women of this locale in social, economical and political aspects.

In appreciation of sincere activities of our NGO, Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation approved us to act as an NGO under its control in August 2002.

Emergency Tsunami Rehabilitation Project (ETRP)

  • Along the sea shore of Ramnad Districts with the fund from World Bank, the Tamilnadu Government introduced a scheme to construct new houses demolishing the vulnerable houses within an area of 200 meters to 1000 mts from seashore.
  • Our Seethakathi NGO was selected as Third Party facilitator to execute this scheme. Sub trained work was started on 10.09.2009 and continue to execute the following works

  • 209 Self Help Groups were selected for rating process by District Committee.
  • Revolving fund loan was sanctioned to 112 Self Helf Groups under SGSY scheme.
  • Economic activity loan was sanctioned to 12 Self Help Groups under SGSY scheme.
  • Small Enterprises Loan was sanctioned to 8 Self Help Groups under TAMCO scheme.
  • Released Revolving fund loan to the tune of Rs.72.80 lakhs to 117 SHGs under SGSY scheme.
  • Released Direct linkage loan to the tune of Rs.79.60 lakhs to 77 SHGs under NABARD Scheme.
  • Released Economic activity loan to the tune of Rs.60.00 lakhs including a subsidy of Rs. 30.00 lakhs to 20 SHGs under TAHDCO. (SHG Members involving various business like Charcoal Making. Milch Animal rearing, Coat rearing, etc.,)

Skill Training

  • Tailoring and Embroidering training was conducted for Minority 20 womens at Seethakathi Ngo office from 26.04.11 to 26.10.11 through Mahila Samruthi Yojan Scheme by TAMCO Chennai.
  • Community Resource Person Refresher training was conducted for 23 Various NGO staff and panchayat Level Federation Leaders at TBAK Community College from 29.06.11 to 01.07.11 by TNCDW, Ramanathapuram.
  • One day scientific awareness programme (Oranic crabs management and Bio fertilizers) for rural farmers was conducted for Kilakarai 50 SHG members at Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women from 22.03.12

Cultural Programme

  • Competitions in Sports, songs, Rangoli, Drama, Eloctution, etc., were conducted for SHGs on 28.11.11 at Higher Secondary School Kadaladi sponsored by TNCDW.

Solidarity Programme

  • On 024.1.12 a training programme for the Entrepreneurship Development training, was conducted by District Industrial Centre. 80 SHG members participated in this programme at Union Office, Kadaladi,
  • Bank awareness programme for the rural people was conducted in Mokkaiyur Village on 30.6.11 by RBI, More than 100 SHG women members of participated.
  • On 21.01.12 Consumer Awareness programme was conducted for SHG members at Union Office, Kadaladi.
  • World Women Day Programme was conducted in Ramanathapuram on 8.3.2012 organise by Govt, More than 200 SHG women members of participated.

Red Ribbon Express Programme :

On 20.4.12 Red Ribbon Express programme was conducted by District Health Dept. 500 SHG members participated in this programme at Railway Station, Ramanathapuram.

World Population day :

World Population Day conference and Rally was conducted in Ramanathapuram on 11.9..2012 organise by Govt, More than 200 SHG women members of participated.

SGSY Scheme Training :

Fish net Making training programme for 40 fishing women SHG members was conducted from 30.4.2012 to 11.05.2012 at Mariyur village supported by TNCDW-SGSY Scheme.

College Bazaar :

College Bazaar was conducted on 27th August 2012 to 28th August 2012 organised by TNCDW, Ramanathapuram at TBAK College Campus. Inagurated by The Project Officer, TNCDW, Dr. S. Sumayaa Project Officer Seethakathi NGO, Mr. Sheik Dawood Khan, Dept. Gen.Manager, Seethakathi Trust, Our SHG members display their products and sale.
