COMMERCE DEPARTMENT

MISSION

Our Department Mission is to produce professionals and entrepreneurs who will substantially contribute to national development and wealth creation with outstanding managerial skills and with keen ethical sensitivity to steer clean of corruption and tainted practices which bring scheme to our national image.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

After graduation, from college and department, our students will be able to:

  • Become successful entrepreneurs who will give, rather than seek, employment to others.
  • Manage independently, and with confidence, small business which is directed to improve income and development of self help groups.
  • Move to pursue higher studies in commerce for women in particular and
  • Foster business ethics to check corruption.

 

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

To overcome the chronic unemployment problem and to provide stability in the future, this course enables them to start small Business Units and Computer Centers. They can also become Chartered Accountants, Secretaries in various companies. The programme is designed to impart efficient managerial skill, not only through effective classroom teaching by experienced and highly qualified faculty, but also through necessary arrangements for enough industrial and corporate exposure and regular guest lectures. The department was started in the year 1988 with the students strength of 21. At present the department has 255 students and 11 teaching staff.

SPECIAL FEATURES

A Proposal was submitted to the University Grants Commission for the introduction of career oriented programme ( Certificate , Diploma and Advanced Diploma) in December 2007 and a sum of Rs. 5,00,000 was sanctioned by the UGC for the Programmes titled “Customer Relationship Management”. The department also conducts “Certificate Course in Tally” for all the UG students of our college. The department completed and submitted four minor research projects sanctioned by the UGC and one major Project sanctioned by the UGC(Rs. 4,21,400) titled “Managing Human Resource for the Self Help Group and Micro Credit Synergic Integration”.
