HISTORY

The Department was started in the year 1989 with Part I Arabic for all the Under Graduate students. BA Arabic Literature was started in the year 1999 and produced six batches of graduates in BA Arabic Literature. Since the intake to the department for the Part III major was very poor, UG course in Arabic Literature was closed with 2004 – 07 batch.

VISION

To become a beacon of knowledge and ethical practices for women.

MISSION

The department of Arabic will produce professional and ethically sensitive communicators, by offering knowledge and skills to learners, through study and research, at the frontier of Arabic language and literature, for the benefit of women of Muslim community in particular, and of all women in India and abroad.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing graduate studies with part I in Arabic language and literature our learners will be able to:

  • Become effective translators to disseminate values of Arabic works to audiences, both inland and abroad.
  • Be interpreters of values of Arabic literature to common people;
  • Be creative writers to produce works of art; and to
  • Pursue higher research into the development of the literature with critical skills of high order.

  • Department of Arabic & Islamic studies conducted a Qirath Competition for I Year UG Students at 12.20 pm. 19 students was participated. On 16/07/2016.

Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies started Thajweed classes for Muslim staff of TBAKC on 12/08/2015.

Future Plan

  • Formulating computer aided Instruction packages to teach Arabic and adoption of the same in teaching techniques.
  • Introducing certificate & Diploma courses in Classical Arabic language, Teachings of Quran & hadith.
